Ramen Play & Hatched @ Holland Village + CHIJMES + Gardens by the bay

Day out with my college buddy Sheauwen at Holland Village :D
It was great to chat with her and talk about our lives in Singapore hehe...
This girl never fail to make me laugh haha..

Had lunch at Ramen Play
I realize there's a lot of ramen shops in Singapore! finally it's time to try out one hehe

Tonkatsu Ramen
The soup is quite nice, strong flavor..
but the Char Siew abit disappointing, it's not bad, just lack of flavor...
and the texture is kinda rough...

Miso Corn Ramen

Nice ambience anyway, quiet place to enjoy your bowl of ramen soup hehe

Next, we decided to hang out at a cafe to spend the rest of our afternoon
Hatched@Holland V
A cafe specialized in eggs!!
too bad we were too full to take in any of their main dishes
will definitely revisit this shop one day...

anyhow, the shop has a very light and cosy atmosphere, great for friends to have catch-up sessions

Cheesy Fries -- SGD12.00
Not your KFC cheesy wedges haha..
this one has a light cheese taste and the japalenos balance off the heavy cheese and fries combination
The bacon bits adds a little bit more flavor to the fries...
Not bad lerr!!
anyways see the pepper and salt shakers beside!

Mocha -- SGD5.00
the all time favorite hehe
erm not very smooth but I do love the balance between the chocolate and coffee...
Latte art looks pretty hehe

Sheauwen ordered an Iced Caramel Latte -- SGD7.00

After our chit chat session at Holland Village, we decided to explore around marina bay area...
and somehow, after some blind walking haha...we arrived at CHIJMES!
gosh the one place that made me feel like I'm out of Singapore haha
it's an ancient church, restored to be a dining and entertainment hub!
Many restaurants inside and you can dine in a rather Europe-ish setting!
there's also a banquet hall, where we saw newlyweds had their wedding reception and photoshoot...

there's a really pretty courtyard...
if this were to be my house *dreaming*

and we moved on to explore the beautiful views around Marina Bay

too bad I didn't have my camera with me...
I used my super super super terrible ancient camera...
so sorry the photos r nt exactly pretty
will definitely go there and take pretty photos soon!
btw photo credits to Sheauwen :)

PASTAMANIA@JEM

This is one of the first few restaurants I went outside of Pulau NTU haha
glad to have a pasta place like this with an affordable price
the food, not bad too!

Pastamania @ Jurong East Mall (JEM)
lots of pasta to choose from! all kinds of ingredients, sauces and pasta types
go to their website to have a look at the menu
http://www.pastamania.com.sg/menu_pasta.php

Turkey Bacon Cheesy Crumble -- SGD 8.30
super heavy and rich flavor
I love cheese so this is still bearable for me
the bacon bits and crunchy pasta kind of balance off the strong cheesy taste...

Chicken Bolognese -- SGD8.80
tomato sauce is always the classic option
very refreshing with the sweet and sour combination and also light tinge of herbs

Dory Baked Rice -- SGD8.80
Love this one, moist rice with fragrant cheese together with tomato sauce
awesome combination

Apple Mint Carafe (Left) -- SGD4.90
Passionfruit flavor Italian Soda -- SGD3.20
apple mint is very very refreshing...though it taste a little bit like our toothpaste haha...

nice ambience too...

Can't wait to try other pasta flavors!!

Modern Revelation @ Taman Molek

oh yes, so glad to be blogging about food again hehe....
but the following posts will be food from JB
my second home haha..

so I spent a couple of days in JB after my exams ended
thanks to the courtesy of my cousins, I managed to go to many awesome cafes and restaurant...
more like cafe hopping actually
anyways, to start off..
we have...
Steamboat Lunch at Modern Revelation 现代启示录 @ Taman Molek

yeap we had heaty steamboat for lunch!
thanks to the non-stop raining weather...
Steamboat is definitely what you need to warm yourself up in this wet and chilly season

btw, there's two floors to this restaurant
the first floor is a BBQ restaurant
while the 2nd floor is Steamboat
initially we wanted to have BBQ but accidentally went up to the steamboat floor LOL

Here's what we ordered...
1. Australian Beef Set - RM28
2. Seafood Set - RM28
3 Pork Belly Slices - RM15
The sets include one pot of soup of your choice, assortment of veggies and glassnoodles 冬粉.
The pork belly is on the ala carte menu.

Their bestselling Miso Soup
not bad! very rich and sweet flavor and it goes well with all the ingredients...
suitable for kids and people who can't take spicy food

Sichuan Spicy 麻辣 soup
sorry I don't have a solo photo for the soup haha
but as u can see, check out the super red color
for some reason the soup wasn't really spicy at first
we added lots of chili oil and chili paste (from the sauces counter)
finally 自作自受, spicy like hell haha
our lips burning edi and our drinks finished in seconds haha
but I really do think spicy soup base are best for steamboat
to enhance the flavor of the ingredients hehe

Beef set
complete with loads of veggies, egg and glass noodles
me love the glass noodles a lot! it absorbs all the awesome spicy soup
thumbs up!

closer look at the beef slices
easily overcooked, so it gets really hard
really need to be careful of how long you cook it haha...

Seafood set with prawns, scallop, squid and fish fillet
Love the fresh prawns and scallops
Chewy with some crunchyness

the seafood set also includes this Fish Paste
which you can make them into fish balls hehe..
really like the fish paste, very sweet and chewy

Pork Belly Slices
the must have for any steamboat! super yummy, the tender meat together with little bit of fatty layer...
awesome!

can u see, how our lips look so damn full n big here?

conclusion: not very bad larr....but I do hope they give more meat hehe...

JB Food Again!! The Toast @ Jalan Dedap and Dong Yuan Kopitiam @ Impian Emas

Actually all these photos were taken some time ago
Found them in my phone
Didn't have time to review them one by one
So I might as well share them all in this post
Just realized....it's the battle of Egg Mayo toast hehehehehehe

1. The Toast @ Johor Jaya
at first I thought this shop is a toast box branch, but now looking at the menu and the interior again, I'm pretty sure they are different. The concept is kinda similar with ToastBox, but this one has more of a modern cafe interior...
So this cafe specializes in Toast of course, but there's a lot more on the menu!! which I think Toastbox doesn't have. There's loads of local dishes, from fried bihun, otakotak, to noodles and desserts.

Egg Mayo Toast -- RM2.80
love the buttery texture and the chunky egg pieces..
awesome with the crunchy thick toast...
Thumbs up for this!

Kaya Butter -- RM1.80
again, very crunchy toast
and fragrant butter scent...
but personally, me love thick slice of butter haha
yeap fatty me

Honey Lemon -- RM3.20

Yuan Yang -- RM2.00

Conclusion, Egg Mayo rocks!! Love the ambience, very awesome place to hang out with friends and family and chat all the way.

2. Dong Yuan Kopitiam @ Impian Emas
came here for at least twice, a breakfast spot whenever I visit my grandaunt's house
the menu has a wide range of local meals and also japanese bentos
there's also breakfast sets with different combinations of local favorites

Egg Mayo Set
that comes with french fries hehe...
this is one is more healthy i suppose LOL
milder taste....not much butter compared to The Toast
just mashed eggs and little bit of mayonnaise

Kaya Butter Toast
Thick butter slice hehe...
but the toast is not as crunchy
still nice though

Hot Milk Tea

The price uhm, I can't really remember, but I remember the set of Egg Mayo and Milk Tea is around RM6.50
Conclusion, quite affordable place, hope I have a second chance to explore the menu further.
