Beauty and the Beast Movie Review

Bonjour!! It's been a long long while.
Haven't been updating and yes you know why. BUSY.
But in a good way, enjoying every last bit of university life and it kills me to think that it will end in two weeks T T Shit I need to stop thinking about this, makes me so emotional :(
Anyways!! Had a sudden urge to start writing again despite still being in the BUSY mode with assignments due in the following week. Really wanna express my thoughts for the movie I've been waiting with anticipation.

Beauty and Beast 2017 was, is and will always be amazing.

I shall skip the synopsis part. I suppose everyone knows the classic story. This remake retells the tale with beautiful Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast, whom has the most mesmerizing blue eyes hehe.

Expectation vs. Reality
To be very honest, I wasn't expecting this to be like WOW despite having much anticipation, coz after all, we know the story inside out. What could have made it better? But the truth is, this live version was such a joy to watch, truly engaging and it felt like the fairytale was true as it can be, like seriously. Initially, when I first watched the trailer, well part of me was shocked by the appearance of the antiques haha. No big-eyed Lumiere, no cherry lips Mrs. Potts, it just seemed, less cute. But oh well, I have certainly underestimated the power of CGI. The movements, the talking of all the servant-turned antiques was incredible. And this is the most amazing thing I find in this remake. Cogsworth hopping will be the cutest antique clock that you'll ever see haha. And Lumiere, now alot more mischievous and charming. I'm in love with a candlestick now haha. The interactions between these antiques was so adorable.

Questions Answered
The remake tells a lot more story of every character, yes including the antiques, Gaston and Lefou. Compared to the animated version, there was so much more emotions conveyed by every word they say, every action they do. Gaston went from just a terrible and self-centered man to an evil sinister in this remake. But I guess I really like how they presented the Beast's side of the story in this remake. There was so much more layers to his character in this remake. It was him who made my eyes teary throughout the movie and in this remake, his love for Belle was so much more sincere and before you know it, your heart strings have been tugged. When he said "You'll Always Have a Way to Look Back on Me" I'm already tearing up T T Evermore was an awesome song for Beast. Also, they did talked about the past of Beast and Belle. How did they end up as who they are.

But still, I wonder whats the age difference between Beast and Belle haha.

Music
The originals were still as enchanting as ever. Be Our Guest was my 2nd favorite score in this remake haha. It's just so whimsical and the visual effects complimented the fun and cheerful lyrics. My favorite is Evermore, which is a new score and like I've mentioned before, Beast really deserved this song to tell his story. Another newly added song which I like was Days in the Sun, again, another beautiful music, which expressed so much hope and feelings of the antiques.

The sets, the overall visuals
Everything was beautiful and it stayed true to the original story but the live action version was definitely more magical. Gosh I need to stop raving about the antiques haha. The ballroom dance scene was a magnificent sight. The architecture, the majestic interiors, the twinkle lights and the best part was really how Belle's dress flowed around omggggg. Just so gorgeous and dream-like.

Something that wasn't there
Well as amazing and exceeding expectations it may seem, I still wished there was a little bit more. To me, Beauty and the Beast was about looking beyond the surface and never be afraid to be who you really want to be on the inside, which is why I love Belle so much haha. But just thought this remake kind of missed the second part. It still remained as a story about a girl who fell in love with a Beast, but there wasn't much about how Belle proved herself to be a fearless young lady. After all she said "I want so much more than they've got planned". Just thought the movie could have inspired more people out there to chase their dreams. Oh well, I'm just nitpicking, it's still an awesome movie. Wouldn't mind a second time in the cinemas.

To fans of the original, if you want to experience the movie once again, in ways that will arouse so much of your emotions, you have to watch this! But I believe, you have already did haha. To those who've never seen, Beauty and the Beast 2017 will be a fun, enchanting and enjoyable movie to cheer you up and to remind you of something you always knew, Beauty Lies Within.

Still can't get over how magical the movie was and I had to count on my Beauty and Beast playlist and THIS coming video to suppress my desire to run to the cinemas now haha. Can't wait for the small-screen version so that I could relive those moments. Sharing this Oculus 360 degree video of Be Our Guest "Rehearsal Version".
This is awesome!!

eggcited, oops i was blocking Beast haha

Date of the Day! Had a wholesome Korean dinner and a great catch up!

Was strolling around City Hall and the CHIJMES is still one of my favorite places to visit. So pretty!

OOTD, was trying to dress recreate Belle's blue pinafore look.
But obviously I failed LOL

Alright time to dive back into work. 2 more weeks left and wish me luck :)

Movie Review: Inside Out

Hope it's not too late to post about this movie now.
For those who haven't watch, you really should!
Well let me clarify that this movie may not exactly be the "greatest movie of all time" type but it certainly falls into the recommended list because I guess you've never really seen any movie like it so far.

I remember watching a short film on Youtube one or two years back which is called Brain Divided and totally fell in love with the cute animations of two "opposing nerves" in our brain. And not much later Inside out trailer came out with FIVE emotions lol. Totally love how they portray the mom and dad's mind. This was really one movie that I anticipated.

But part of me still doubts, it's an animation afterall, how awesome could it get? But the fact that this movie is an animation is exactly why the movie rocks. It takes you into your head. I read this phrase from a review of the movie. "It's not quite anything you've seen, but it explains everything you've seen."and I totally agree.

Just a short summary here, the story revolves around Riley, a 11 year old girl who was a joyful child and loving daughter to their parents until her family moved to a new place to start a new life. The story tells Riley's story through her 5 emotions in her mind. Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust. This five emotions are responsible of deciding Riley's reactions and create memories. 5 of them have been working well but no one has ever fully understood what is Sadness' role in the team, not even Joy. Because of that they have been trying to prevent Sadness from sabotaging their "Keep Riley Happy" mission. And there came the day where Joy and Sadness accidentally caused the core memories to be displaced and both of them were taken away from the headquarters to the long term memory section of the brain.

[SPOILER ALERT]
The reason why I love this movie so much is because of how it portrays how our mind works. Most of the characters are inside our head. It made every aspect of our mind into a living character or a setting. Really love how all these settings and characters make so much sense, for example there's Forgetter, and I love how they use Dream Productions to explain how and why we dream. N there's literally a train of thought that travels around the mind! However the main focus was more on emotions rather than other brain functions like learning.

But afterall, the best part about this movie is, it's the first movie to tell (and explain) you that it's okay to be sad and cry because that's human nature and sadness is also the beginning of joy. We always try to deny that we're sad because it shows that we are weak and vulnerable. But hey, there's always a reason for us to feel sad and it's because that we care about something and it will affect the way we think. Sometimes, it is all these moments of sorrow and breakdown that forms the turning point and allows us to learn to pick up ourselves and grow stronger than who we were. I had an emotional  breakdown during the movie when I came to this realization. Really touching. And I believe many people felt the same way too.

Really recommend this movie to you people!! It's a beautiful animation with so much fun yet meaningful in every sense.

By the way thanks to brother for treating me to the movie!! :D

Movie Review: Minions

Bello!! Just gonna do a short review here...okay not exactly short

Minions
It's worth sharing coz I really didn't expect the movie to be better than what I imagined.
Well I wanted to watch Jurassic World at first, but it was a rather last minute decision to catch a movie, so there weren't many seats left for JW's (ngeh ngeh wan use my initials haha) showtimes.
There weren't many choices left and Minions seems to be the next best thing on the list of movies.

To be honest I really wasn't gonna pay to watch minions. One, it's animation, watching it at home should have the same effect. Second, I thought I watched the whole movie already from the trailers. Third, the story will confirm be cliche, the minions would be doing stupid stuffs, singing banana song and running around like idiots.

Of course it's not totally out of expectation. Yes the story is still cliche haha, but I would say the reason for me to love this movie is really the "acting skills" of the minions. It's quite funny. Trust me, the way they play idiots and goofballs in the movie is really different from your usual comedy by real actors. I thought their signature minion acts in Despicable Me won't make me laugh anymore, but still, they succeeded! Okay spoiler here abit, this movie needs no subtitle!!!! hehe yeap everyone can understand Minion language for sure. Second reason would be the animations, it's really beautiful, all the characters actually have a very realistic feel. The story setting in London is also super real.

What I don't really like is, the movie seems abit out of the Despicable Me picture despite being a prequel. I know they are making this movie for the sake of making another Minion box office hit. They did explain the minion's villain masters "portfolio", but still they didn't really explain why they like to follow villains. The story just begins with the "they-are-born-to-serve-the-most-despicable-masters and the story goes..." but again, Why????? sorry I can't get over this. At least they did explain why Gru became evil in Despicable Me. Okay la forgive my curiosity, probably not a question that needs to be answered haha. Anyways the movie is still not bad lar, good enough to make me laugh out loud. Owh not to forget, I love Sandra Bullock's voice as Scarlet!! Always a fan of her i'm-the-boss-so-don't-mess-with-me voice.

Prepare yourself for loads of LOL moments and cuteness from our little yellow friends. Afterall, this is a movie for little kids to learn about courage and realizing dreams. Minions have their despicable dreams, so do us, just go and chase it. Even for adults, finding a cave may shelter you from danger, but you would never know what's outside and you will not get a chance to work hard for things you are passionate with. (unless your passion is sleeping and stay out of the world)

Er I don't think I need to write the Synopsis LOL
Coz you literally know the whole story from the movie trailer
Basically it shows you the story of 3 minions on their quest to find and serve their rightful despicable master and find meaning in their lives once again!

Oh another thing I like, I think it's good that the story centered around 3 minions only. Which makes the story have a better focus and the different characters of the 3 minions shows a great chemistry among them. Love'em

By the way, it was my first time using my phone to buy movie tickets.
I bought the tickets while I'm on my way back to PJ, in the moving LRT!
Just realize how times changed and technology evolved (Okay I know this service existed long time ago) I bought a 8.30pm movie at 6.30pm, just with the touch of my fingertips. Plus I skipped the box office queue summore. Really recommend you guys to download this GSC app, buy tickets at anywhere anytime!

Gonna update again soon.

Movie Review: Pitch Perfect 2 and Mall Cop 2

Oh before my thoughts gets too outdated, I might just quickly write down my thoughts about Pitch Perfect 2!

Watched this last Saturday with Daph at Cineleisure. I've been a big fan of the first movie!
My thoughts:
I'm actually quite torn between recommending this or just plain criticism.
Well I guess it's still worth watching in theaters.
The acapella songs are still awesome!! and trust me, be prepared to have goosebumps all the way. I was shocked enough to find myself having goosebumps throughout the movie and especially the final showdown between the Bellas and Das Sound Machine. The riff offs are always the best!

To be honest, I think there weren't much wow factor as compared to the first movie. But damn the singing is just so so so impressive. The mash-ups weren't as creative, but it's the singing that really makes the movie awesome. Really worth it to watch in theaters, I doubt watching it on your laptop will be the same.

Storyline, well, I kinda expected it, just like any other movie sequels. New people joining, bigger challenge, conflicts etc etc etc But as a university student, I really appreciate how they highlighted the  fear of an uncertain future which is something that I'm actually experiencing now LOL I bet every undergrad felt this before. It's great that they are encouraging youths to be independent and strong to face challenges of the future, to move on with our lives with courage.

So yeap, those who haven't watch, do watch it if you are a fan of acapellas or you just wanna get some goosebumps!!

Read about Pitch Perfect here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2848292/

Okay now, I thought I might as well laid out my thoughts for another movie that I watched recently.
I didn't really wanna mention it but I guess it's time for me to make a really negative review!!

That's Paul Blart : Mall Cop 2

Oh Myyyy, Okay I'll admit the reason why I'm so mad is because I felt like I've wasted money to watch this in the cinema. Perhaps if I'd watched it online, I wouldn't be so bothered haha
So yeap just to tell you there's some bias there.

Anyways, this movie, is possibly one of the most nonsensical and no-point movie. Though it highlights the themes of family and possessive behaviors, still the plot and actions are all too...lame and nonsense. Too be honest, all the funny act that they pulled of didn't make me laugh for most of the time in the cinema. The only thing I kept on saying was "zomok酱废的?"

The plot was cliche with lot of nonsensical stunts. Now that I think back, I seriously don't know what did I gain from the movie....No genuine laughs, no surprise, nothing. Alright maybe I should give credit to this movie for making me write the first ever negative movie review. Usually if I don't fancy a movie, I won't really bother to criticize it since I believe people may have different thoughts. But this movie....well...sorry but I just gotta be honest that I disliked it instead of just merely not fancy it haha...

Oh you might ask, then why did we chose to watch this in the first place. No.1, there weren't much choices, my cousin watched Avengers already so I wasn't gonna make her watch again. No. 2, I thought a movie that has a sequel couldn't be that bad afterall...but turns out it can be!!!!

Movie Review: Night at The Museum 3 and Woman in Black

Very short review here...
Was able to catch 2 movies in the past week thanks to my very ON friends heh...
well the reason I say it will be short, coz, these 2 movies are not exactly my type of movies. But will still give some comments anyway.

1. Night at the Museum 3
Cast: Ben Stiller, Ricky Gervais, Rami Malek, Patrick Gallagher, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson,
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis (from GSC Website):
After two unforgettable Nights at the Museum, Ben Stiller and company are back for another exciting night of adventure and laughs! Our new adventure begins at the opening of the new Planetarium in New York, when our museum heroes lose control of their minds and bodies as the tablet that brings them to life slowly begins to deteriorate.
Only Ahkmenra’s father knows the secret to restoring the tablet and as fate would have it, he’s displayed in London. The action moves to the famed British Museum of Natural History where, with a little help from some ‘new’ friends, they must risk everything to discover the secret to the magic tablet and repair it before Larry loses his museum friends forever.

My thoughts:
Just plain comedy man...if you really wanna laugh out loud, then watch this! Just loads of comedy, the actors are all wellknown comedians. Story, lol the storyline really doesn't matter much afterall. But the characters are the ones that shine. The interaction and chemistry between them is just so funny. I do love the fact that the movie goes to the British Museum this time, showing a whole new range of museum "friends". It's still a heart warming film. But still I wished there's a deeper meaning to this movie, coz spending RM15 to watch this in a cinema might not be very worthwhile.
Rating: 5/10

2. Woman in Black
Cast: Phoebe Fox, Helen McCrory, Jeremy Irvine, Oaklee Pendergast
Genre: Horror (OMG I just paid to watch horror again)
Synopsis:
40 years after the first haunting at Eel Marsh House, a group of children evacuated from WWII London arrive, awakening the house's darkest inhabitant.
http://www.gsc.com.my/Movie-Synopsis/Woman-in-Black-Angel-of-Death/

My thoughts:
Not as scary as I expected (Thank God), but there were still some eerie moments that keeps you on the edge of your seat and curse occasionally I actually like the background of the story, it's set in World War 2 era, so the characters, the visual effect all seems to give out the vintage-classy-but-creepy scenes. Another thing that I like about it being a horror movie, it's more on the psychological side and there's not much disgusting and bloody scenes. But, the not so nice point would be, I think the story line was kinda vague, I just felt the connection between the main characters could have been stronger, I guess it will haunt me more haha. Anyway, I still don't understand why this is rated PG13 haha, coz it's still quite scary for me LOL (Okay I know I suck) I saw kids in the theater man! Very hard not to have nightmares coz the story revolves around children as well.
Btw, I think Phoebe Fox is really beautiful.
Rating: 6/10

Haizzzz, it's my second time watching horror film in cinema and it's thanks to the same bunch of 损友 again!! They always buy movie tickets without telling us which movie 先斩后奏 :( Why on earth do they love horror movies that much?? TT.TT But luckily it was a weekday, cheaper tickets woohoo...

Anyways, here's my outing with Daphney last Saturday where we watched Night at the Museum 3. I was home alone that night, grateful that this girl was willing to be my dinner date! Very gamdong arr... Had a very wholesome dinner and decided to watch a movie at the last minute! Impromptu sia. Stupid moments we had haha. But I felt really happy that day, just food, movie, and of course, a best friend.

Haizzz seriously, IKEA is still the best place for dinner.

Love the refillable coffee of course. If it's during the day, we could have just sit there and chat for hours.

She bought a football from IKEA
and had to carry the ball in her arms the whole night
Even funnier she was wearing football jersey, people would have thought that she's an insane football fan that can't live without a football beside.

Oh ya, we 2 brave girls, stayed all the way till midnight, where the malls were all closed and car parks super empty.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Movie Review

Makes you wish you have a pet dragon, how cool is that?

Watched How To Train Your Dragon 2 with my chui shui buddies Ting, Gav and Daph on Friday. With so many movies coming up, guess we're gonna establish Friday as movie day LOL. Anyways thanks to the buddies who purposely make time at 9pm just to watch a movie and also continue chui shui at Murni after that heheh, really love chatting with you guys, great way to release stress after the working week.

We've been talking about this movie since last week, the guys enjoy making fun of the movie name wth LOL. How To Train Yourrr DuhhRahhhGonnnn!!! *dragonisthemainword* Watched the trailer, and it looks kinda amazing. Funny why I didn't know much about the first movie four years back.

Anyways, this is another movie about family and love, guess this theme is capturing lots of audience right now (after Frozen, Maleficent). Lots of heartwarming scenes, funny characters and of course, the pet-dragon fantasy that everyone desires.

Synopsis:
5 years after the first movie, Berk is now a place where Dragons and Humans can coexist, more than that, they are each other's best companion. Hiccup is now a free-spirited teenager, exploring new places with his best friend (and super adorable) dragon, Toothless. During their exploration, they were being shot down by dragon hunter Eret, who is working for Drago. After freeing themselves and returning to Berk, Hiccup tells his father Stoick about  Drago. Turns out Drago is a bad guy who wants a war and take control of all dragon. Feared that Drago might hurt Berk's people and dragon, Hiccup decides to talk Drago out of war with dragons, by offering himself to Eret. While on Eret's ship, Hiccup was rescued by a dragon rider and taken into a dragon sanctuary. The dragon rider who is an expert in controlling dragons, later reveals herself to be Hiccup's mother. The story continues with how their family reunites, and how their family, together with the people and Dragons of Berk, fight a war with Drago. The story also talks about how Hiccup and Toothless discover about their own abilities and find their true destiny.

The Cast:
I kinda jaw dropped when I found out who are the people behind this animation. Super star-studded.
We have Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, Gerard Butler as Stoick, America Ferrera, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill OMG and of course, joining the cast, Cate Blanchett as Val, Hiccup's mother. It's amazing that despite it being an animated movie, the characters kinda resemble the actors in real life.

My Thoughts:
In terms of the story, well, undeniably cliche haha But it has to be this way isn't it. And I thought it's great that they actually bring in the mother this time, very heart warming. There's a surprise in the end though, which I don't like (but it's actually a good thing), dun wanna be a spoiler here, so go watch it yourself. Besides the family part, the best part of course, is how they present the chemistry between humans and dragons. Too good to be true I know haha, but the interaction is just too cute. The dragons can't talk wan lerr!! but still their actions and expressions, as cute as talking snowman Olaf edi lorrr!! Other than that, I think it sort of reflects another conflict between parent's expectation and children's dreams.

Animation, love it. Like I said before, great job on giving the Dragons a life. I don't know what technology is used, but I find it amazing that the human characters in the movie actually look real. I mean if you ignore their super-sized and not-so-real eyes. It looks real. Their complexion, their face structure, their movements. and of course the almost real settings. It's truly a 3D film. Characters are awesome, you have the family, the love interest, the pet, the joker best friends, the villain, the villain-turned-good guy and of course, the dragons!

Toothless is sho cute I'm gonna die.
I said this many times, but again, the WOW factor of the movie: Dragons as best-buddy, playmate, confidante.

Despite the story being a little bit boring at certain times, it's still a movie that you'll enjoy. This is definitely a movie for everyone la, no matter who you're watching with. And it's father's day! This movie is gonna remind you how your dad loves you, not just your mom. *tearsgonnafall*

Overall rating: 6/10

Extra whining story: PEK-CEK ness in TGV

So, I bought my tickets online, coz I know we wouldn't have enough time to buy tickets on the spot. I checked for both gsc and tgv's showtime, but only TGV has a 9 o clock show, so boh bian, went to TGV after so long. I don't hate tgv actually, in fact I went for the Beanieplex before, quite nice heheh
But this time's experience, really made me not-so-like TGV anymore.

I arrived at 1u pretty early, right after I finished my work, knowing that I had already bought my tickets so I thought I could just chill, yumcha and wait till my friends come. Then it's around 8.20pm, I was too bored so I decided to get the tix first (usually at gsc, I will only collect the tix when I'm about to go in). Then I was at the box office, searching for a ticket collection counter. Glanced 3 times, and there's none. Then there's a Maybank priority lane, not many people lining up, and so I thought that's the collection lane. I talked to the staff,

Me: Hi can I collect my online purchased tickets here?
Staff: Sorry this is Maybank priority lane
Me: huh??? that means I still need to line up to get my tickets?? seriously??

The staff replied a yes, and showed a slightly apologetic look. Bet he's thinking "this girl must be a GSC-ian"
Immediately the PEK-CEK ness kick in, wth I paid for the tickets edi lerr!! U still want me to line up? Then what's the point of buying online oh????!!!!??? Luckily I went early, coz the queue was long!!! and you know how Malaysia cinemas they allow you to choose your seat and bla bla bla, so yea, waited for some time. For the first time I thought that sg cinemas not allowing people to see the seating plan was quite a good thing, coz it will speed up the queue (yeap Singaporeans like things fast LOL)

So after the wait, it's my turn. I gave the staff my confirmation ID and the next thing she said. "I can't print your ticket for you lahhh" Then I'm like whutttt??? Imagine me queuing up edi and now she says i can't print my tickets OMG I asked her why, she said somebody used my code. She asked whether I gave anyone my booking number, I said no, but actually yes, coz I gave it to my buddies in case they arrive early but they certainly haven't arrive, they were just coming from Kelana Jaya when I called them at 8.40 liddat. She even asked whether I'm Choong Jia Wen lol, I was gonna show her my IC. Then I asked, is it because I clicked the Print Ticket button. She said yes. I was too panicked at the moment, afraid that we couldn't get the tix, so I was reasoning with her, saying that I didn't know the link meant that I can't collect the tix, I even mentioned to them how GSC can use both the print tickets or collected tickets. The staff was actually quite polite and told me to not worry, she instead made a Handwritten Ticket for us LOL

Okay sorry, long story, but my point is, after I came back, I clicked on the link (photo above), as you can see, it says u can still collect the tickets if you lost the printed tickets. I was thinking, what are the odds of someone using my booking number? I suppose no, coz no one was seating at our place. Totally puzzled now. Alright for this incident, not much as a complaint to TGV la, just a whining, coz I think it may not be their fault also, maybe someone really used my booking number. Anyways I was EXTRA PEK-CEK

Then my friends are still on the way when it was already 9, so i decided that I should buy their drinks first, coz the queue is almost equally long as the box office. Then when it's my turn, I realized I didnt bring enough cash. FML. I asked the cashier if I can pay with card, and he said no. Okay I know this is not exactly their fault, but I truly suggest TGV should allow card payment. Coz their food is freaking expensive. Trust me, I saw the people in front of me buying all the popcorns, snacks and drinks. Most of them spent at least 20 bucks. Got one family of 4 spent around 60 bucks LOL Yeap I guess it's pricier than gsc. so yea, I think there's really no harm to set up a card payment system lor, especially for customers like me who buy tickets online. So yeap, had no choice, but to buy only my drink and Daph's corn in cup LOL. PEK-CEK ness level up again.

Okay la, sorry for all the whining. But point number one really needs to be considered. Please have a collection counter!! You know why people buy online right? Okay I know it's to get better seats and of course, is to skip the queue! Collecting tickets is fast, you could just team it up with the Maybank priority lane. Then the 2nd point, so far, I haven't experienced anything like this with gsc, and I can tell you, I always buy tickets online unless it's an impromptu decision to watch movie. and I can tell you also that I always checked the self printed ticket but still experience no problem when I go to the counter to collect my tickets.
Point no. 3, just a suggestion.  Oh one last thing, the cinema is freaking cold, it's freezing, i'm not exaggerating if I say we need winter jacket. I was curling myself up and got distracted from the movie several times.

TGV is really not bad, especially the upgraded super-yeng cinemas like 1u's, but still, all these things, if they could change them, I guess it will give them an advantage against other cinemas.

Movie Review of Maleficient

This movie will change how you read your Disney Classics, forever...

Have you ever wondered why on earth does Maleficent feel so offended when she wasn't invited to Aurora's royal christening? Out of the whole wide world, out of all Kingdoms, why King Stefan's daughter? How the hell did Aurora grew up nicely with fairies who can't do house chores? True love from a person who only met you once? This movie certainly explains the questions that arose in your head when you're old enough to question this classic fairy tale.

Synopsis:
The movie tells you the Maleficent side of Sleeping Beauty story. How the evil started to takeover her. You get to know Maleficent's past, her own fairy-tale, her sad story and the twisted fate between her and her first love. She was once a beautiful and kind fairy, after the betrayal of humans, she turned her world into a dark state. Filled with hatred and revenge, she indulges in evil and goes on to curse a princess. And the beautiful yet twisted story between Maleficent and Aurora goes on...

Angelina Jolie as the great villain Maleficent
Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora

My Thoughts:
hmmm there's quite a lot of aspects to talk about. On first impression, I thought the whole story was cool!! But when I started to match it with the original story, I was kinda torn between both stories. If you try to fit this movie into Sleeping Beauty, it pretty much ruins most of the best parts about fairy-tale, coz you're villain is not a villain, and your true love is not your true love! (watch and you'll know why) So yea, you really have to treat this movie as a whole new different movie, or else the storyline makes not much sense, coz Maleficent is like Aurora's Dad's Ex-lover. hmmmmm.......
Well certainly the movie was good at trying to give Maleficent more dimensions about her character, by explaining about how she was a kind fairy and how she had a painful past, her weakness, her vengeance.

Okay so now let's imagine this is a whole new movie, you'll love Maleficent's character for sure. I love how she's being portrayed as being wicked instead of just evil. She has her wits and principles that she believe in. And I love how she had the funny and mischievous side. Angelina Jolie certainly did a great job, making Maleficent such a charming villain. Yes you'll adore the evilness in her. Besides that, graphics were awesome, the dreamlike Moors with all the Disney-fied adorable creatures. Story, heartwarming though abit cliche, but certainly gives you the other ending that you secretly craved for.  Oh, Elle Fanning is beautiful, she's nothing close to the Aurora we see in our story books, but the way she acts, it's the lively, happy and kind young princess that the story books cannot show entirely. Love her smile.

one of my favorite scenes
cute young little Aurora meeting Maleficent
I just found out that the little girl is actually Angelina's daughter!! How sweet is that.

This scene where she appear at Aurora's royal christening, will definitely be the favorite of favorites
Mesmerized by her wickedness and evil-smile.

Overall, hmmm, it's really difficult for me to say whether it's nice. But if you treat this as a movie of itself, it's actually a really good movie. Rating: 6.5/10

Watched this movie at GSC 1u with the secondary school buddies. We went in at 8pm LOL
Guess we missed some of the parts.

Movie Date: Benten Cafe & Ajisen Ramen @ Jurong Point

Owh yeah...more food haha

Before exam - Eat a lot, After exam - Eat more than 2 lots

Movie date with my dear "relative" Sheauwen after my finals in Singapore.
oops can't believe we didn't take photos, we used to be da most selfie-ish group :P It's always great to meet her, we would be complaining about our lecturers and school then this girl will brag about her "steady-ness" in her class LOL. Anyways, thanks to Sheauwen, I had free movie to watch woohoo! Perfect stress breaker. Besides that, we were stuffed with another universal stress breaker -- FOOD!

1. BenTen Cafe @ Jurong Point

Bacon and Mushroom Garlic Sauce Spaghetti -- SGD 12.80
Not bad, crunchy mushrooms with bacon bits.

Iced Cappuccino -- SGD 4.80

Salmon Baked Rice -- SGD 12.80
Thumbs up for this!! Salmon had a soft texture and the flavor matches well with the fragrant cheese and moist rice. Love it!

Next, our dinner at Ajisen Ramen (in Kopitiam)
Cha Su Ramen 10.90
Sorry to say but I was rather disappointed with the ramen.
The Cha-Su  was all lean meat, so it was really tough. The soup, just normal. Noodles are a bit greasy.

Aso Ramen 7.90
Spicy ramen with minced pork. Sheauwen doesn't eat pork so I had da minced pork. Like the spicy sensation but it's kinda too spicy and choking.

Watched The Amazing Spider Man 2
Love it! not the ending though, I bet many people said the same thing.

Just a short review.

The synopsis: In this sequel, again we have supervillain but this time there's two instead of one, they pretty much hate Spiderman and also wants to watch the whole world burn. On the other hand, Spiderman was dealing with issues about his father's past, trying to find clues that will explain why he was abandoned. And of course, we have the conflict between the superhero and his heroine.

My thoughts: I thought the effects were great, they shoot it with the first-person perspective (i dunno what's da jargon for that) it kinda felt like riding on the Transformers 3D ride for some reason. The quick swinging scenes, jumping off a building, things like that, it did felt real. Other than that, the story, erm....abit too rushed I suppose, I thought they could have given more story to the villain Electro, instead of just portraying him as a LOA freak, it would have made the rivalry more meaningful. Then there's a second villain, too much villain to handle in one film I suppose haha...but Dane DeHaan is adorable!!
Anyways love the chemistry between Gwen and Peter or aka Emma and Andrew LOL
I also like how Peter Parker acts like a very down-to-earth and hilarious kind of superhero, we definitely need one of these alongside all the Godly or genius ones like Ironman and Thor :D

Short Movie Review : Frozen.... My Good Old Disney is coming back :D

Animation that rocks!
I'm just gonna write some thoughts here
Just to encourage you guys to watch the movie FROZEN while it's still playing in cinemas.

FROZEN
by Disney

What is it about?
Heartwarming story of two sisters, Elsa and Anna. The story is set in Arendelle, where Elsa and Anna are the princesses of the country. The main conflict is Elsa's special ability to create snow and ice which is somehow uncontrollable and therefore caused a barrier between the sisters as Elsa is afraid that her ability will put Anna and others in danger. And one day, Elsa accidentally turned her own country into a piece of frozen land and ran away as she don't have to keep her secret anymore. So in simple words, the story tells Anna's journey to get her sister back and save her country out of winter. :D

Why it rocks?
hmmmm I know my description of the story may not sound very interesting...in fact I find the story line kinda cliche too! The awesome part of the movie is how the details are presented. There's many sub-storylines and many meaningful themes which can capture large audience. The reason I love it so much is the beautiful animations and the way they portray the characters, it's just very much ALIVE! I love how the characters interact with each other, the funny lines, the expressions and the conflicts as well. And of course, the fact that they put in a lot of awesome broadway tunes! Seems like my old Disney is coming back! Only this time, is not just about fairytale-happily-ever-after love songs, but songs about family and destiny as well. I really love how Disney is trying to make stories about strong and independent girls nowadays, my previous favorite was Brave, and now they have Elsa and Anna on the list as well. Like Like!!

Besides, the sidekicks that every Disney movie will have hehe. This time, the guys became the sidekicks, and the villain as well. And of course, the super damn cute talking snowman Olaf, gawd every line that he says made me laugh so bad....and there, Disney makes you dream of having a snowman as your friend LOL

The most touching part would definitely be the sisters' relationship, I cried in the theater seriously, though I don't have a sister, but it makes me wanna have one so badly.

Basically, this movie is another awesome Disney piece, that makes everyone, from children to adults, dream of a fantasy world that gives you warmth, hope, joy, family and love.

the awesome sidekicks -- Sven the Reindeer and Olaf the talking snowman

"The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway" -- Let It Go

This song had gone viral! Sorry Demi, but this version rocks! Performed by Queen Elsa -- Idina Menzel
It sounds pure! Totally impressed and touched.
