Review: Descendants of the Sun. Why the fever?

just feel like shouting out some thoughts here, before I go into mugging week
haha some of you might think this is another post to fangirl about Song Joongki
Well, it's not all wrong hahahahah

but....I think I'm gonna fan girl for Song Hye Kyo more hehe
hands down awesom-est acting

Just in case some of you don't know (I suppose there's none), Descendants of the Sun is pretty much the hottest and most famous Korean Drama for this year, up until now. Just to give you an idea how insane the craze was (in Msia and SG's case at least)....

First: You will not swipe your Facebook without noticing someone fangirling about Song Joongki or someone posting DotS related news. I swear I wanted to be one of those people haha, but I thought I shall not spam peopls' news feed further LOL.

Second, there's at least one mandarin news about DotS on chinese papers everyday. I'm not exaggerating. Almost every Chinese paper I read have it and it's so insane that even the smallest news made it to the paper. Mostly Song Joongki's news, but there's also like prediction of the drama outcome, comments from directors or crew made it to the papers too! Can you imagine haha

Third, you will find at least one person watching DotS on their mobile devices in the MRT.

Fourth, you will walk past random people in Uni and hear them talking about DotS. (and yes I'm pretty sure one the random people is me hahahahahah)

Fifth, now that it has ended. Everyone will be saying how empty they feel.

I swear this craze is one of the most heated one. Is like Song Joongki became every girl's boyfriend haha. and became every guy's enemy too (nola just joking)

[Minor Spoiler Ahead]

Personally, I think this drama was quite a successful one. Not my favorite, but it surely deserves all the attention.

Storyline:
Written by one of my favorite K-Drama writers Ms Kim Eun Sook who also wrote tearjerkers like Secret Garden and romance comedy like Gentlemen's Dignity, DotS's storyline was really a fresh and interesting one that triggered people's imaginations and expectations. Gotta say this Army Captain and Doctor combo is just too genius of an idea. Not many people can develop stories from such a background but she created so many beautiful scenes and heart warming lines.
I think it's really smart for her to choose this topic, since it's rare, and I doubt anyone had any expectations before we watch. Whatever story it tells, we didn't see it coming, and so we love it. Yes, we didn't see a baby-faced army coming, we didn't see a baby-faced soldier who can joke coming, we certainly didn't see a baby faced-humorous-and-knows-how-to-flirt soldier, coming. I swear I didn't imagine the first episode to be an army soldier using his army tricks to impress a girl. Thought it was gonna be some serious melo.
Unlike the recent K-dramas which usually have a backbone storyline that holds the story, this one doesn't exactly have one but the story was able to progress with plots that incorporates action, drama and lots of humor which constantly keeps us on the edge of our seats. I like how every episode has it's complications and a climax that really pulls people to keep on watching.

But I have to say, towards the end of the series, I feel like the story was kind of rushing. It's like all the problems were easily resolved by miracle. (Spoiler: Is it even possible for someone to recover within a day after several gunshots with a cardiac arrest?) But maybe it's a good thing too, or else it would have been suffering for us to bear the sad moments.

Characters and Settings

No need to say, this is the best part of the show haha. I keep on saying this is 史上颜值最高电视剧. And when people ask me how I think of the show, I always answer. It's pleasing to WATCH, like literally. 很好看 The visuals are just 101%.  I guess I don't have to reiterate on how impressively good looking all the main actors and actresses are, their costumes and stuffs. I have to say the setting was brilliant seriously. It was filmed in Greece omg... A mesmerizing place, with story-book like skies and sea together with the ruined-beauty of some ancient buildings that endured history. And you placed two of the most dignified people in the world over there (Soldier and Doctor), isn't it a glorious and beautiful scene? I guess most people forgot the fact that Soldier and Volunteering Doctors are tough jobs while watching the show haha.

Plot and Scenes
Gotta comment a little bit about the sub-plots and certain scenes. I really like how the series has a lot of comedy in it, despite it being a melodrama. I guess it really changed the mood of the viewers watching the show.
But at the same time, I do like some of the plots that triggers some debate between the two main characters. I guess the "Country or Me" issue defined most of the stories in the series and it's really an interesting topic to present. I like how they expressed their concerns and emotions. The complicated debate between Love me let me go or Love me stay with me. Well even though this was obviously one of the main issues, but I wished the writer developed more in detailed on this topic. It might be draggy, but I would like to see a more realistic struggle. It felt like they got their way too easily.
Btw, even though I love the second couple in the show, I thought their story was just cliche, is like the writer just wants to make their lives miserable for no reason. I wished more details are being shown in their relationship, to me it was just two of them loving each other very much, but why? how they kept it together, what was keeping them strong. Is like "I love you and so nothing is gonna change. My dad is the only thing between us."

On another note, I do like some of the issues regarding moral and ethics. One of my favorite scenes and line was Captain Yoo telling Doctor Kang to save the person because you are a Doctor. "I will kill him as a Soldier if I have to. Do your job as a doctor." I think Onew did well in portraying the doctor who ran away from a survivor during a rescue. Sometimes we have to make painful decisions in life, one way or the other, we will suffer emotionally.

Actors
Yay fangirling time!! Personally think Song Hye Kyo did a great job. Her acting OMG. I cried in the last two episodes. It's like Secret Garden all over again. (I suppose Hyun Bin was really a match with her haha) I cried because of her expressions! I swear I really didn't feel like crying when the bad news was told. I didn't cry at his last words (Sorry Captain). But damnnnnn those heartbreaking scenes really made me cry. There weren't even any lines man, just her and her acting OMG. Oh Kim Ji Won was equally awesome on that part as well. Two ladies, making me cry so bad. While I was watching, I can't even believe I started tearing and my heart pounded as they sobbed and then I realize I wasn't breathing LOL was totally absorbed by their acting. This is where you realize, the real main character was Dr. Kang.

Okay la not that SJK wasn't as good as Song Hye Kyo. Congrats on his transform from Flower Boy to Tough Guy look. He took on this role really well. Is like a perfect mix of everything. The baby face but tough figure, his warm laughter as the joker and his stern voice as the big boss, the struggling personality of a savior and a killer, the man in love and the country's man, all these were portrayed with clarity. Never gonna forget those eyes that can melt you down instantly haha. You know how people always say certain man only appear in drama but not real life, NO I dont think so, I think this guy only appear in DREAMS haha. It was another level of perfect.

Jin Goo sshi I didn't forget you. You are so adorable. I really like how he portrays like this very loyal and responsible sergeant that seems like he doesn't care much on the outside, but on the inside he's just a soft guy who cares and thinks so much about MyeongJoo. 暖男 arr!!

Okay conclusion. It's really worth watching, and I kinda wished they extended the show a little bit more. The fresh storyline, the interesting characters and the right dose of action and comedy in a romance drama. More importantly, the visuals!!

Bye Descendants of the Sun. You were really awesome.

gotta end with a fangirling remark:
Oppa 쳐다보지마

p/s: They have AWESOME OST.

pps: CHEESY ALERT They have lots of super cheesy lines. My gosh especially 单身狗 like me almost cannot tahan the last 2 episodes.

ppps: Tbh, as much as I love Dr. Kang's character, but sometimes I can't help but to dislike it when she acts like some naive-dumb girl in front of Captain. But I suppose this is the 好天真好不做作 quality that every female lead must have.

Cheese in the Trap

The Other Truth

Can't believe I can be so truly, madly, deeply addicted to a TVB series. I watched it before QT where I was suppose to study. In fact study about science, but at the end of the day, I'll spend my night watching something about Law LOL!!

I don't know what's wrong with me larrrr, whenever my exams are coming, I just feel like watching TVB shows. I don't watch any of them when there's no exam, But strangely, I Must watch them no matter what even though I'm suppose to study. So according to my 1st Principle, Work Hard Play Hard. I studied in the day and then 12am -3am is my "THE OTHER TRUTH" time!!! :D

THE OTHER TRUTH -- 真相
Yes, this is the series that made me sacrifice my sleep time.
Once you watch the first episode, there's no way you'll stop. Coz this show is just so freaking awesome!!! :D

The Cast : (All my fave actors)
 from top left :
Ruco Chan as Keith Lau
Tavia Yeung as Mavis Hong
Raymond Wong as Wallace Cheuk
Louis Yuen as James Wai
Natalie Tong as Cecilia Poon
Chris Lai as Danny Mo

Synopsis by me :
Basically the series is about Law. Not lawyers, but Law.
This series has a total of 25 episodes, talking about the story of Mavis Hong, Keith Lau and James Wai who are barristers in the same chamber, with different crime cases and how to defend for justice. Just like the series' title, it tells the story of how these lawyers help their client and how they look for the truth in their own (lawyer) way without the help of others like the police.

The reason I like it so much, it's because all the cases are very interesting.
It's not like suspense-investigating films that keeps you guessing, instead they are more realistic when it comes to helping the victims and also the innocent ones. What they did was to use what they already have, like the proof, evidence, witnesses' statements and try to look for doubtful and questionable points, and also loopholes. They are not exactly investigating the case, they are just clarifying it, so that the judge and the jury know what is to be concerned.

Unlike other lawyers-themed series, which only talks about how-lawyers-help-the-innocent, these one talks about different aspects of the legalization body. There was one case that tells the role of the juries in a case which I really like. Now that I know the juries actually play a very important part and the way they consider and decide the outcome is very very important in a case. Other than that, there's also spotlights on the judges, the different types of lawyers like the solicitor and the barrister, and also on how to appeal for cases.

Well crime cases are actually the main topics, but what keeps the series interesting is also the characters of the series. All the lawyers are super super cool mannnn..... There was one moment where I just want to become a lawyer and be cool like them LOL They are all professional and defends for justice. I love it whenever 2 or more lawyers work together to solve a case. At the same time, the series reveals a lot of problems that lawyers face, not just problems with their clients, but also problems with their point of view on things, their perspective to the truth. And sometimes find it difficult to stand firm on justice while they are constantly being blackmailed and no one seems to believe in the truth.

One of the best thing about this particular series -- Ruco Chan XD
I've watched him act several years ago in a series called Love In a Miracle (爱在有情天)where he's the 2nd male lead and he sang the title song of the show which I really really loved!
I really really liked him since that show, there's something really "yeng" 型 about him. But after that I seldom watch his series coz he was in ATV. Then when he got back to TVB, well he's acting is very good but he was always doing the minor characters. and NOW finally!!!! He's the lead of the series!! and gosh, he showed off his acting skills mannnn. I'm in LOVE with Keith!!
Keith is like this really good lawyer that does everything to help his clients. So yea, to achieve that, he often break some rules, but or course, justice is on his side. Keith is a very cool and also fun guy who is very helpful and cheerful but at the same time, he can get very emotional when he's dealing with things that he doesn't wish to see.  Especially things that hurts people around him. Yea, Ruco Chan did well in portraying his sometimes cheerful-sometimes emo character. Love it laaaa....

The relationship between the characters are very interesting as well. They are all very very good friends and works together to fight for justice. I just love their chemistry la...
The cast are awesome don't you think??? Tavia Yeung is like the best actress you can find. Seriously! She can be anything, and I love her character as Mavis, a smart and professional lawyer, and also a confident and independent woman. Many guys in the show were running after her LOL Then there's also Raymond Wong as Wallace, a born-rich solicitor which have his own firm but has no experience in court. But as the events come along, he learned from his failure and starts to be a REAL lawyer and finally turned into a barrister. Louis Yuen, haiz, of course the Joker in the series larrr....

There's also love relationships, for example Alex (Kenneth Ma) and Cecilia (Natalie Tong)...
Sad case, Cecilia died TT.TT

And of course, the sort-of triangle relationship between Mavis, Keith and Wallace.
It's kind-of complicated, one man knows her best, the other saved her life. One teaches her new things in life, one treated her well.
Though Mavis didn't make a choice at the end, but I'm sure there will be a Sequel to this series.... Can't wait, can't wait!!! hehe...

Wuaaaa, didn't realize i crapped so much...
In Conclusion, all I want to say is GO WATCH THIS SERIES!!!

wanna know more, go to The Other Truth Official Site

The theme song which perfectly suit the story. *ThumbsUp*

Back into K-Drama

Why does all the awesome k-drama have to come out at the times where I'm having exam?????
I told myself to study hard but when Thursdays come, all this willpower just crumbles into dust in one second.
And this time, who did this?? City Hunter

City Hunter
Currently airing in Korea.
It's such an awesome tv series I tell you.

I wasn't very impressed when I know the story will be about revenge and stuffs. But when I know Lee Min Ho is the main lead, hehe...definitely shouldn't miss it la. But after watching the first episode, totally fell for it man. Not because of Lee Min Ho's good looks (but it's still one of the main reasons XD), but the whole story line is just so interesting. I must give credits to the writer, a story full of conflicts and interesting relationships issue. It's not wholly about revenge, but it talks about justice, guilt, dreams and sacrifice and of course, Love.
The complicated yet interesting relationship between the characters is the best thing i tell you. Most of the characters are inter-related and they all have a responsibilities towards each other and there's a lot of hidden truth and secrets between them which makes the story very fun and full of ups and downs. But I can assure you, it's not like those over dramatic and sad-sad story. There's a lot of comedy and lively acts as well. Oh at the same time, this series has a lot of action scenes. Which is so "yeng", especially Lee Min Ho's action scenes!! Really wanna share this awesome film with you guys!

 The Main Casts:
Lee Min Ho (right2)
Park Min Young (centre)
Lee Joon Hyuk (left2)
Hwang Sun Hee (left1)
KARA's Goo Ha Ra (right1)

Synopsis:
The story takes place in Seoul, 2011. Lee Yoon Sung is a talented MIT-graduate who works on the international communications team in the Blue House. He plans revenge on five politicians who caused his father's death with his surrogate father Lee Jin Pyo and eventually becomes a "City Hunter."
source: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/City_Hunter

Yea I would like to add my synopsis as well LOL
It's not just about revenge. It also tells the story between Yoon Sung and NaNa(by ParkMinYoung) where Yoon Sung has feeling towards NaNa but can't express it, in order to protect her form harm. Yoon Sung kept his City Hunter identity as a secret, nobody knows it but SaeHee (HwangSunHee) who was always his life-saving angel. So yea the storyline goes about how Nana and others like YoungJoo (JoonHyuk) slowly uncover his true identity. And also there's a debate about whether to crown the City Hunter as a Hero or a Criminal, whether they should accept his way of punishing the guilty ones. YoungJoo was Saehee's ex-husband, the reason they divorced was because YoungJoo only cares about his work. Both of them still have feelings towards each other but at the same time YoungJoo is also interested in Nana as well.
So yea, told u the relationships are very interesting!!

Hot Guys and Pretty Girls
Where can you find a better cast???

Here's the trailers :

Lee Min Ho is gorgeous, don't u think so????

First Week of Hols

Oh My God, My First Week of Holidays are incredibly...

BORING....

Well there were plans to go out with friends and all,
but all got canceled at the end....
and I have no choice but stayed home...

Read some Digital Camera magazines that my bro bought.
But somehow I still fail to pick up photoshop skills.

I promised myself to stick to my piano for the hols.
But somehow, I still sucked in all the songs.
Exam is in less than 2 months time.

Sometimes, I'm bored enough to talk with Patrick.

The only thing that I completed in the hols.
I finished watching Oh My Lady!
It's a new korean drama, starring ChaeRim and Choi SiWon.
It talks about a story of a 28 years old star actor and a 35 years old divorced woman.
Both of them have a daughter and OMG, SiWon's daughter is super super cute!
The show is quite funny but lack of story.
It's not that interesting if you compare to other similar series like Full House and Last Scandal of My Life.
But I must say, Choi Si Won is a total perfect guy.
He has a really hot and sexy figure, killer looks and a cute smile that melts your heart.
OMG, I love him since he first acted in the series, 18-29.
and he can sing! He sang a lot in the show.

Long time never talk about some blue stuff edi...
let's see.... Something Blue of the Day is...
My Nivea SunBlock Lotion.
Has SPF 30 which is not too much and it doesn't have a sticky kind of texture on your skin.

Well since I'm having marching practice these days so I might as well share my
Marching - Must - Haves :
A nice Duck Cap
A face sunblock. (Neutrogena Fine Fairness UV Moisture with SPF 50!!)
A body sunblock.

Sick Sunday

Everyone was kinda sick today
I still have endless phlegm in my throat.
My parents have light flu
but it was enough to make them go frustrated and totally irritable for the entire day!!
I asked to go for MPH's book fest but they weren't in a good mood
and it was raining so they just ignored me....
and I was pretty upset coz i really wanted to buy some books
but now, i'm not anymore
coz i just know that
There will be a Big Bad Wolf Books Sale
many had been anticipating this sale
the books will be cheaper than MPH's sale......
Cheers!!!

Check out their website, www.bigbadwolfbooks.com

So I was stucked in the house today
and finished watching Rosy Business this morning
and Oh my God, this Hong Kong series is one of the best I had ever seen
The story is really interesting and everything was so close to our daily lives
though the setting is in the Ching Dynasty
but all the conflicts still happened in these modern days.....
The problems between boss and employees, horrible government "ministers", business challenges, humanity and money....bla bla bla....
It's really awesome....

Love it!!!

I was bored and looking for sumthin to do
So.....i decided to paint my nails
I had been pretty lazy bout it
but I really had nothing to do
so why not paint my kinda-discolored-toe-and-finger-nails
Choosing the color....
I actually read this page in a magazine when i was in a clinic (got serious flu that day)
and I snap this page down as reference since i actually have similar nail colors
so I'm basically going towards Modern Romantic style for this holiday......=)

I chose the nude pink(SkinFood) for my finger nails
since i don't like to see crazy colors while i'm playing my piano
and the deep purple(EtudeHouse) for my toenails
coz this fall-winter season's color is PURPLE!!

Tools that are a MUST!!

Having Piano class tomorrow.....
and nothing else....
hope there will be ______

Love Nuffnang
