JB Cafe Hop: Just Want Coffee @ Taman Molek

Finally I get to try out one of the most recommended coffee bars in JB
I'd seen people share many photo of their coffee on Instagram and FB
Now my turn to do so hehe...

Just Want Coffee @ Taman Molek
Now known as Be Coffee
the exterior looks like...a place where members of Book Club will have their book sharing session haha
They use a lot of brown tones with warm lightings and also fairylights, wooden tables, comfy couches... looks like a place that belongs to Manhattan LOL
The moment you step into the shop, there's a sense of peacefulness and elegance and I couldn't help but to act-high-class put up my decent-face
and then there's a sophisticated coffee bar situated right at the center of the shop, facing the main entrance...with lots of stainless steel machines and glass bottles and cups surrounding it.
We picked a seat right next to a display shelf of different coffee brewing instruments...

Vintage-Newspaper-like menu
The photos in the menu are beautifully shot and there's interesting descriptions for every menu items
besides, it also includes explanations for different coffee blends and brewing methods so that Coffee Illiterate people like me can at least understand a bit of the art and science of Coffee hehe
You just wanna spend a few more minutes to read through the details of the menu

I know at specialty coffee bars like this, we should have tried black coffee with special brewing method but I'll just admit I'm nothing close to a coffee pro, just a girl who loves latte because of the awesome balance of milk and espresso.

Rose Latte -- RM9.50
something special to me...
The coffee is very smooth with moderate bitterness, very mild acidity
But I'm a bit confused coz I couldn't taste or smell the scent of rose
I don't know whether it is meant to be very very mild
but of course, the rose flakes does give off a mild rose scent that combines well with the coffee aroma when it touches your tongue...
when it come to coffee, the aroma really matters to me, so I wish they could enhance the rose scent

Caramel Macchiato -- RM9.50
smooth and light with the delicious drop of caramel that enhances the coffee flavor

Iced Matcha Latte -- RM12.00
very strong green tea scent, not too milky but still has a rich taste

Tiramisu -- RM13.90
their signature dessert
which taste very much like... extra-creamy ice cream!
The creamy texture goes well with the strong scent of coffee powder
it melts immediately on your tongue and the awesome flavor or coffee and cheese combines
doesn't feel too heavy, and we finished it in minutes...

Caramel Banana Mille Crepe -- RM9.50
our second dessert, i chose this dessert because I think something fruity will go well with coffee...
Love the smooth and light cream and the crepe layers are actually slightly crunchy

Happy girl enjoying her coffee

I really love the ambience, it's very suitable for friends to hang out and complaint/talk about their lives after a long hectic day of work or studying.

JB Cafe Hop : CESTINO @ Taman Desa Tebrau, JB

oh yes, here comes my series of Cafe Hopping at JB yo!
thanks to the cousins, I was able to visit many Specialty Coffee shops which seems to be a trend in JB now!
It's like heaven for coffee lover like me :D
Let's start with the first one...

CESTINO Bakery and Bistro@ Taman Desa Tebrau
A company that specializes in desserts and produce their own coffee.
I was very impressed with the interior of the restaurant when I first stepped in, half of the shop is a dessert bar that showcases their wide range of sweet treats, from macaroons to cheesecakes and also their coffee bar just beside. Beautiful presentation. Then you move into the dining area, very spacious and cozy. Youngsters are sure to love this place to have catch-up sessions or just enjoy a nice afternoon in a quiet ambience.

The menu was a thick one LOL so much to choose from...Mainly western and Italian food and also their wide range of desserts and coffee.

Hazelnut Latte -- RM8.90
abit disappointed with this one, there wasn't must hazelnut scent...
but still there's a slight hazelnut flavor
the coffee seems to be more of a bitter and heavy flavor one, moderate acidity
Zack ordered an Iced Caramel Latte -- RM9.90

Aglio Olio Spaghetti -- RM12.90
Do love the texture of the pasta, and also the awesome flavor of  tomatoes, mushrooms and herbs
But I wish it can be slightly spicier, just to enhance the flavor hehe
at this price, this is actually very worth it!

Zack's Grilled Chicken Leg -- RM15.90
recommended by the waiter (who's a friend of my cousin)
Big portion as you can see...
Quite tender meat with mild seasoning

Too bad our stomach weren't big enough to accomodate the desserts!! They have many flavors for macaroons and all of them look lovely!! After reading some reviews online, it seems we missed out lots of awesome desserts like creme brulee and tiramisu. Will definitely come back here next time.
Conclusion, great place to dine in with friends at an affordable price. Thumbs up!

Christmas is coming!!

Time to share some Holiday Season photos before it's too late haha..
Singapore has always been well known for their beautiful and mesmerizing Christmas Lights and Decoration. It's sad to say that I didn't get a chance to head down to Orchard to see them...But amazingly, Xmas is almost everywhere! It doesn't take much effort for you to feel the joyful atmosphere.

City Square Mall

my dearest girls...
never get sick of saying thank you to u girls for coming into my life at this phase!

owh they have this pandas outside of JEM
n there's a security guard that stands there at stares at whoever who went close to the pands
like seriously?? treat them like 国宝?!!!??

Christmas again...
can't believe how time flies
it's been a rather crazy year for me...
I was still a UTAR student in the beginning of the year
stay in a house with awesome roomie n housemates, goes to class with my lovely GE gang
at night can have supper at Mamak and chat non stop about our lives until 5am
assignments come and we'll sit down and discuss while having fun...
then I'll go home every weekend
do some housechores, listen to all the nagging by my mom, watch how my parents fight, sing k-pop songs with my brother, watch TV while lying on the sofa like a boss...
and then in may, I went to a scholarship that changed the whole course of my life...

then, I sort of lost track of how things change...
I had to prepare all the documents, fill up forms, pack up
meet up with friends...
and ta-dah I'm in NTU

It's amazing how now only I realize what studying in NTU means to my whole life
of course, I'm not saying I don't like the outcome, but it's just...overwhelming to realize that...I'll be away from home for at least 7 years...

Once i realized that, for some reason, I have lots of fears in my head...
I see myself losing a lot of things, important ones...
It felt like I didn't want to know what is going to happen in the future...

But luckily, I'm not alone in this journey
God is with me.
Thanks to Him, I met many awesome people, experienced a lot more from what I expected...
There are times where I felt down but it won't take long before you realize You are the only person who can decide how the 7 years will be.
Just wanna say, I'm really grateful for what I have now.
The fact that I can study in a foreign country, while my parents and family are also living a healthy and joyful life.
The fact that I have loads of work to do but still Skype with my parents.
The fact that I have to study almost every weekend but have friends to accompany me.
The fact that I can stay in my room without feeling lonely or helpless. (Trust me this one is the most important thing to me)

Life's Good :D

Merry Christmas everyone!!

L'etoile Cafe @ Owen Road

Time to share some Holiday Season photos before it's too late haha..
Singapore has always been well known for their beautiful and mesmerizing Christmas Lights and Decoration. It's sad to say that I didn't get a chance to head down to Orchard to see them...But amazingly, Xmas is almost everywhere! It doesn't take much effort for you to feel the joyful atmosphere.

This was when my exams officially ended and we decided to pamper and relax ourselves at a nice cafe the second day. I was looking up on cheap and pretty cafes and this was our pick!

L'etoile Cafe @ Owen Road
the cafe is conveniently located near the Farrer Park MRT station, but I was stupid enough to take half an hour to find the place my mind-GPS wasn't working well haha....It's a corner lot, situated at a rather quiet street. The shop lot itself is a neoclassical building, painted entirely in white with black framed windows and doors...gives out a sense of peacefulness and ease. There's wooden benches outside with people sipping their coffee and reading with their Ipads...

Btw there's free wi-fi! After finishing our lunch, it rained, thanks to the wi-fi, we pretty much just chillax throughout the afternoon, and see the world goes by...without feeling bored at all :D

Hot Mocha -- SGD4.90
hehe the all time favorite again :D
smooth foam, mild coffee and sweetness from cocoa...
not bad :D

Eggs Benedict -- SGD12.90
Love the watery poached eggs that fuses into the crispy grains bread!!

Strawberry Crepe -- SGD6.50
Well it's not bad but nothing special
Wished they use better jam...

finally it's time for us too enjoy ourselves :D

Selcas while the rain pours hard outside!

the girl friend of the day -- Mindy (LOL)
thanks to this cute and pretty girl who stayed by my side throughout the semester
I know I might be very boring and sometimes too noisy and you just feel like you want me to shut up haha
but really thanks so much for accepting me for who I am...
Love you girl

pretty place to hang out with friends or just give yourself a quiet time while enjoying a cup of coffee...

Gardens by the Bay & Teatime at Au Chocolat @Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands

Day out with the cousins yo!!
so glad to have them while I was in the middle of exam stress mode haha...
We decided to travel down south towards the city for some sightseeing :D

 at Marina Bay Sands promenade
love the beautiful view of Fullerton Hotel and Skyscrapers
looks a bit like Hong Kong haha...

After that, we decided to head towards Gardens by the Bay
In my opinion, i prefer to go in daylight, I love how the greens and purples stand out against the blue sky

and....sudden decision to go to the OCBC skyway
the moment we step out of the elevator, 20% regret comes in
coz it was so freaking high!!!!

it's a suspended bridge so it does swing a little bit when the wind blows...
it takes a lot of courage to actually look down
and I can't walk without my hands on the rail LOL
didn't know I have that much of acrophobia

despite the fear, walking along the skybridge gives you an awesome view of Marina Bay, you can see the straits and Marina barrage
then there's a closer look of Marina Bay Sands hotel tower (you don't have to snap your head back up high)

and also a view of the GREEN AND URBAN ground of Gardens by the Bay
my hands were shaking when I took this photo haha...
the wind was blowing really crazily

Though it's 5 dollars, but I think it's worth the experience haha...
It's my first time walking at such high altitude in open air...
The altitude really makes a difference on what you see and what you feel...
脚踏实地的感觉真好,但人总是需要在高处眺望,才能把一切的美好,尽收眼底。

Just when we got our feet on the ground, the sky was divided into halves of black and white...
We were still under the white sky, but suddenly the black took over and it was raining really heavily!!
Thank God it didn't rain while we were at the bridge haha
so we ran all the way back to Marina Bay Sands
we were pretty much wet, and we decided to find a place to rest and chit chat
then I remember a shop from my first trip to Singapore

the cute and dreamy Au Chocolat
we ordered the Afternoon Tea Set -- SGD32.00++
Chocolate fondue was the best thing on earth!!!!
naturally sweet with slight bitterness, the smooth texture, melts further on your tongue and fills your mouth with the awesome cocoa scent
we wished we could just drink the chocolate haha
the macarons were great too, crispy and light

we ordered Chamomile Tea
free refill

 A closer look

love the ambience

hehe great time

Horrible Host at Au Chocolat
Yes the reason I actually blog about this bistro is because their Chocolate Fondue really deserves a compliment. But that won't stop me from blogging about our bad experience at Au Chocolat
Well I don't know how many people will see this and I don't know how many people will agree with me, but I'll just write down my experience, just to remind myself to never look down on others because it sucks when you are being looked down.

So, we're at Marina Bay Sands
and yes I expected our tea time will be a rather pricey one
While flipping through the menu I thought ordering one Afternoon Tea Set will be enough as we are not really hungry and yes we are not willing to spend too much.

Anyway, we ordered one Afternoon Tea Set, and I asked the hostess whether we can get 3 cups. The hostess, a lady in late 30s i suppose, said it's fine in a very friendly tone. And when we say we don't want anything else, she just smiled at us and left.

Then 2 minutes later, a host, obviously in his 40s, walked swiftly to our table and said "There's no bananas" in a very quick, and cold manner. And I swear he wasn't looking at us when he asked, his gaze was somewhere else instead of us. 3 of us were puzzled. What am I suppose to say when there's no bananas? What is it about bananas? We couldn't understand what he said and it seems like he doesn't wanna explain to us after seeing our confused faces. and so I just simply asked "Then what do you have in place of bananas?" He couldn't answer and just walked away swiftly. Instantly we felt his rude manner, he could have at least said "Let me check for you" before walking away. Anyways, he came back after a while and used the same cold, swift and toneless voice to say "There will be strawberries." My English is not very good and it may sound like he was just being emotionless, but trust me, I swear I can feel the insulting and demeaning tone in his voice. You may say I'm very perasan, but I trust my instincts really, sometimes this kind of things, we human just have a very good sensor about it! It really felt like he doesn't wanna spend a single second talking to us. He was using the Oh-Please-I-Don't-Wanna-Talk-To-You-at-all-and-I-Hope-This-Conversation-Ends-Quickly tone.

Not just me, even my cousins felt it.
and I was thinking what the hell did we do to deserve this kind of service?
I spent money at your place, I did not give u any trouble, I did not complain about the food. Yes I know we seem very stingy for 3 of us to share one high tea set and asked for 3 cups, but still!!!!????!!! I still spent money at your place and it's 37 dollars!! It's higher than any usual 2-pax hi-tea set, so it's not really unfair to have 3 person right?? And honestly, have you ever thought of the consequences of your action?

I know, you might think we are just a bunch of students that have low income/pocket money. It's okay to lose customers like us. But have you considered the fact that we, young adults, will eventually become money earning individuals in the future? My cousin for example, an EY accountant with bright future ahead, probably have no problem having hi-teas once a week after 5 years. After your terrible service, do you think I still wanna dine at your place when I have the money? Seriously this people don't know how to do business, and don't understand what marketing is about.

Lesson learned, a customer(or a person) carries a lifetime value instead of just the money she paid during her visit. Always show your best hospitality and manners, and never look down on any customer/people at all.

anyways, other waiter and waitress were friendly enough, just this one that totally pissed me off.
