New Place, New Face, New Race

Kay I shall update abit about my life in NTU just to tell you guys what a life I'm having hahahahah
Not to say I'm like having a very happening life larrr...
but the first two weeks were fun,
however there were still some emo moments....

Now let's start with the fun parts first larr...
The Freshman Orientation Camp organized by Malaysian Students Association!
while I was worrying about not knowing anyone in NTU on the first day I reach
this bunch of friends and seniors just took all those fear and doubts away!
The camp lasted for 5 days, thought it was long, but now that I think of it, 5 days certainly wasn't enough. It it one of those camps where you do crazy stuffs and hope time passes quickly but when the camp is over and you look back at the memories, you would feel no regrets about joining the camp.

So the camp was about bonding new students with seniors, getting familiar with the new environment and also have fun around uni and also Singapore!
Camp was packed with fun, crazy, interesting and even scary activities haha...
Did lots of stupid stuff, said lots of dirty words, played lots of crazy games and most importantly, met lots of good friends.

Day 1 -- PK Station Games on campus
Our group got second place!!

Day 2 Jalan Jalan around Singapore!
It was actually a treasure hunt, but I'm glad that our group decided to make it more like a sightseeing trip instead of rushing around to find treasure only! Singapore does have it's charm, many beautiful buildings with impressive architecture!

 Chinatown

 Orchard
this is Thor!!!

 Bugis

Esplanade
beautiful nightview!! So in love with the place, hope to picnic there some day hehe

Day 3 - Games with AMCISA and Fright Night
AMCISA is another MY students association that gathers students from independent school. So we basically merged and had our new group of friends from the same course. Completed many fun tasks!
Fright Night was one of the best things in camp, though I hated the process, but seriously, it was a memorable experience. It's like visiting a haunted theme park without paying lerr!!! Really wanna give credits to the programmers behind this Fright Night who put in so much effort to turn NTU into an instant Haunted Mansion! The props, (bloody walls, dolls, heads, photos, lighting) the scare actors (costume, make-up, expression), the music HOMG damn scary lorrr!!! I was closing my ears most of the time hahahah sibeh scary weih....btw credits to my partner for being so brave throughout the journey and always step up first...
and also, not just putting up d props, keeping them and cleaning up the place must be super tiring, seriously appreciate their effort weih!

Day 4 -- iTrust and X Files
iTrust is a group activity done in total darkness...basically the games aim to bond group members together. For X Files, hehe quite a fun game too, our mission was to save our Leaders who were "kidnapped" There were riddles and questions to be solved, basically I didn't involve myself in any of the solving part haha....feel damn useless. My groupmembers were all lke Gods and Goddesses mann, they can solve the questions in less than a minute while I was still trying to digest what the instructions were haha...so yea i gave up solving but instead tried to look for clues, which I turn out to be useless again, coz I couldn't find any LOL
Anyways, with our teamwork, our leaders were saved in no time!

Yeap they even use a lorry to pick us up!! Btw, we were blindfolded during the whole session, so yea, imagine urself, can't see anything and squatting in a lorry, not knowing where we're going, quite exciting de lorr!!

The slide!!! damn syok seriously. Being blind just makes more fun!

Day 5 -- Sentosa Island and Closing Ceremony
went to Singapore's most famous Sentosa island and explored around the island! Basically it's station games again, and we walked around sentosa to fulfill tasks. From the beach, to the merlion statue, to the Resorts World etc etc It was just really great to do fun things while exploring a busy area... After the games, it was fun time at the beach! Enjoyed the sun and the waves with my dear group mates!
At night, we had to perform our sketch and also our final Cheer! Everyone was so hyper! When the camp ends, the place turned into a dance floor haha! Had lots of fun just moving around and enjoying the fun atmosphere!

At the beach, with da girls!

So yea that's pretty much about camp, well I wish I know better english to describe how fun the camp was larr....Once again, wanna say thank you to everyone that I know through the camp. Friends, seniors, committees, photographers. Everyone is just so caring and helpful! There's no pay/salary for running around with us, teaching us, leading us but yet the seniors and committee decided to involve themselves just to make us freshies happy. Really very gamdong!! I'm inspired to do the same thing to next year's freshies!

Kinda miss my groupmates now, hope we can meet up soon!

Anyways....well I'm currently I'm in PJ
yes, class just started for one week and I just couldn't wait to come home!
Homesick very bad haha
Probably because SG is totally a new place, with new faces...
For the first few days I thought my hostel seem like an inmate cell...small windows, dim lighting....
I just feel moody whenever I stayed in my room, but thanks to the friends, I'm feeling much better now, not that lonely at least....
Anyways I'm sure after this short holiday, I'll be able to live through the semester with courage!

kinda like this photo
except that it looks like i din zip my shorts wth haha

Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf @ Bangsar Village

Now only I know I'm a Big Bad Wolf, I love piggy meat so much nyehehehhehe

Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf @ Bangsar Village

I'd seen many friends post instagram photos of this place. Well I didn't really cared what they posted but the name of this restaurant is certainly gonna leave an impression! So when my friend told me that we're gonna go there, I was pretty much excited to know how this shop will look like. It's actually hidden behind Village Grocer. You have to walk into the supermarket to enter the restaurant, quite exciting haha, like some secret spot LOL

anyways, just like the name suggests, the restaurant's spotlight is on pork! Most of them are western but there are some fusion dish as well.

I actually like the logo, their menu looks like a storybook and there are drawing of the pigs on the walls, like a picture book.

'
Roast Pork Fried Rice -- RM22
fell in love with this!! Love the flavor so much...
It's definitely asian style, with basil and pepper
The rice is moist with a mild sweetness in it, really love it!!
The best part of course, pork la...I think it kinda taste like Siu Yok, but richer flavor...
Really love this one, my fave!

Mighty Piggy Burger -- RM28
such a cute name haha...
well the pork patty is kinda thick, it's quite juicy too...
the seasoning was okay
to me, it's yummy larr, but nothing impressive
sorry larrr, my fave burger is always Ramlee Burger haha...
the chips well, quite crispy, and lots of pepper!!
The salad is nice tho!

Grumpy Piggy -- RM28
There's a promotional series of  meatball pasta which are named with funny funny names. This is one of them! The meatballs are actually quite nice!! Very sweet onion taste. The spaghetti was okay too, creamy but not too heavy and I love mushrooms!!

Yummy!!
Btw, water is served free. I ordered an Ice Lemon Tea for RM9
haizzz stupid me, I din notice that there's a small cup of syrup so I finished one whole sour lemon tea haha

I like the place though, has a very cozy feeling. Comfy chairs, plain colors, large windows. Like those places where best friends always hang out and talk about their jobs and family haha... I have mine with me on that day :D

Photo from pureglutton.com

To be honest, I think the food is not bad, but not worth as much coz the price is not exactly affordable (for students at least). But I think you pay for the environment and also the specialty lorr...since the dishes are quite unique afterall. I would definitely come back here again, once in a long while :D

Papajohn's Pizza @ Tropicana City Mall

Pizza time!! Where's PapaJohn????

Papajohn's @ Tropicana City Mall

Cheese, thincrust, tomatoes, meat loaf and black olives!! had a super duper full pizza dinner. Don't be surprised, 3 girls finished all the food below. There's no trace left at all!!! Hehe..we were kinda late that day, so the restaurant was kind of crowded due to the buka puasa hour. Do come earlier if you do not wish to wait.

So Daphney has a BCard voucher which allows you to buy two 9 inch pizzas with only RM22. Kind of like half price larr...(Original price of 9" pizza -- RM22.90) So we ordered two and decided to make it four halves hehe...So we tried four flavors of pizza!! Syok nehhh

Top/Left -- Super Papa
The classic combination of meat and also veggies like olive, mushroom and pepper
Everything is so crunchy!!
Bottom/Right -- All The Meats
just like the name suggests, all kinds of meats!!
it's our favorite among the four
The superb taste of sausages, beef strips, pepperoni...different texture with different taste but they all taste so good together with cheese! Like!!

Left : BBQ Chicken and Beef
the bbq sauce is abit distracting haha, can't taste anything else...
but I love the thin crust and cheesy texture..
Right : Pepperoni
The all time favorite larr....nothing can go wrong with those little round slice of meat hehe...
Their wan is like super crispy on the edge, it's like some kind of keropok haha..

Cheesesticks -- RM7.50
Thumbs up, it's like cheesy version of garlic bread. Very crispy on the sides while the center is very chewy. When you chew it, the cheese  and bread's aroma slowly comes out. Very nice!
Too bad they didn't have their sauce on that day :(

Chicken Alfredo Pasta -- RM12.90
Very creamy, but not the cheesy type and not as sticky as carbonara. Very mild taste of mushrooms and chicken. Okay lorr, nothing special...

By the way, we ordered a Jug of Mountain Dew which is only RM6.90
quite cheap lerrr!!

Feasting muahahahha

Ping Pong Bats after we cleared everything hehe...

and some selcas :D

I would recommend their All the Meat Pizza with Thin Crust!! and their Cheesesticks is a MUST TRY!

Uncle Lim's Cafe @ Ikano Power Center

I guess this cafe is no stranger to anyone who loves the good old nostalgic kopitiam favorites.

Uncle Lim's Cafe

Very local indeed, if you're a tourist, just try out everything on the menu, which are in fact what Malaysians really eat, and drink! There's Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Porridge and of course our tea time fave Roti Bakar and Kopi.

Roti Bakar -- RM2.00
I wished my camera was good enough to show you the yellow butter that has been absorb by the bread!
The smell is already awesome, and when you bite onto it. Super crispy on the outside and slowly the kaya melts and you mouth filled with butter aroma.

Teh Tarik -- RM5.50
not bad, love the foam
but I dunno why is it so expensive haha..
probably because of the size...there's no small size for teh tarik.

Kopi Susu -- RM2.50
this is nice!!!! Got the old school taste,
slightly more bitter than other kopi, but has the smooth milky texture.

Should try out their Nasi Lemak someday!!
anyways, do go to Uncle Lim's Cafe if you want some yummy kopitiam delights!

Movie Review : Pacific Rim

Just a short review

basically, I just think the idea behind this movie is quite awesome!! It's sort of like one of it's kind.
I'm talking about the movie named Pacific Rim

Simple Intro (I wont talk much about the details, coz you should watch it and understand yourself):
Basically it's about an alien monster species that invades the earth and caused much devastation. To fight these monsters, humans created their own mega robots which they refer them as monsters with a named called Jaegers. Humans control these robots with their own movement. Erm so the climax of the movie is when the monsters are getting stronger, the Jaegers have to find a way to stop all the attacks once and for all.

Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi

What I Think :
Basically, I think it's quite an interesting science fiction movie in these years. Interesting but still understandable. The only thing that I don't like is that the movie has too much CG, but of course, I don't blame them larr, coz it's a movie about Giga-sized Robots and Monsters. I really do like how they presented the movie, especially the colors. I don't know how they do it, but the colors have a very striking hue and yes it brings out the sci-fi vibe of the movie. The action scenes are quite awesome as well, yea growing up watching power rangers and ultraman makes you always crave for awesome "superpower" or "super-technique" or what I call it 绝招。The robots pretty much have all the yeng 绝招。hehe...Other than that, the characters are quite cool as well, it's quite a complete cast. It involves warriors, pilots, scientists, technicians and even gangsters haha...
I just like how all these characters are like a package towards the goal of the story. Everyone is important.

Gipsy Danger, the name of the Main Jaeger of the story.
All the robots have super cool names larr...

Really recommend this movie if you are a fan of super cool battle robots which you can control. It's different from Transformers, like really different, the idea itself is already diff so there's no way to compare. One is robots from another planet and a human boy that saves the world, this one is about HUMANS BUILDING+PILOT THEIR OWN ROBOTS to save the world. See the difference?
anyways, I do think this movie is like Gundam + Inception
I didn't talk much about the inception part, you should watch it and find out yourself hehe...

Ratings : 7/10

btw, I watched this alone...
Haizzz FA me :(

Hokano Japanese Restaurant @ Damansara Utama

Delicious and Reasonably priced Japanese Food

Hokano @ Damansara Utama

Basically it offers all the basic Japanese favorite dishes. There's sushi, sashimi, donburi, ramen and also those teriyaki items. So far, all the dishes we tried are all delicious. But I think what's special here is their pretty and delicious Sushi Rolls. Which costs from around RM8 - RM20. This is place is always crowded, I just went last Saturday night and it was full house! Had to wait summore!

Kano Roll -- RM21.00
It's all my fave in one black and red sushi haha
There's crunchy eel, creamcheese, cucumber, tamago and avocado.
All the ingredients blends so perfectly, the rice is chewy while cucumber is crunchy and the smooth cheese melts across the rice and the eel. U tell me is this nice or not??

Philadelphia Roll -- RM12.90
This is kind of similar to Kano roll except the eel is replaced with smoked salmon!
Another awesome ingredient -- smoke salmon. The creamy cheese does not have much taste, but the saltiness in salmon brings all the flavor out! Another thumbs up for this.
By the way, there's a Tempura Roll (RM7.90) that taste awesome as well.

Salmon Nigiri sushi - RM3.50 per piece
The salmon is quite thick, and fresh
Taste like fruit seriously! There's some mild sweetness to it. Like Like.

Teriyaki Chicken Set -- RM17.50
Comes with rice, miso soup and salad.
One of my family's favorite. Rice thief!!
The chicken is very well seasoned and has a soft texture. It's very juicy as well.
Pair the beansprouts with the delicious teriyaki sauce!

Tori Shogayaki Bento Set -- RM26.90
This is seriously damn worth it. There's sashimi, Chicken Shogayaki and saba shioyaki, chawanmushi and soup!
Shogayaki taste good! Love the ginger and black pepper taste. The mackerel fish is really sweet. Rice thief again!! The sashimi is quite nice too, prefer salmon though.

Gyu Katsu Don -- RM17.50
Thumbs up, very generous portion.
It's beef cutlets with onions over rice!
The beef cutlets are really crispy and fragrant. While the onions are super sweet. Really tasty!

Kaki Fry -- RM18.80
Super crispy deep fried oysters!!
The oysters are like super huge and the moment u bite through the crispy layer, all the oyster juice starts spurting out! Really has the fresh oyster sweetness. Btw, I love the potato salad on the side hehe...

Chawanmushi -- RM4.50
sorry, dunno why their chawanmushi don't look nice on that day...
However it taste really great. I think they used some broth in the egg. There's crabstick, chicken, mushrooms in the egg. All I can say is, the egg is really fragrant and the soup that comes out from the eggs is just awesome!

Actually I tried lots of their food, but I don't have a photo of them. I would recommend their Mix Tempura set and Curry Katsu Don as well!!

Anyways, just go and try their sushi rolls, bet you'll love them!

Mum's Place @ Damansara Perdana

Simple yet delicious, just like mom's cooking
The one reason I like this restaurant so much is that they are very consistent with their quality. Every dish that you order from the menu is delicious and also have its special twist.
This is the place where you get both special and all time favorites at the same time.

Mum's Place @ Damansara Perdana

It's a halal restaurant that serves local dishes, there's some hints of nyonya, chinese, malay and also fusion on their menu. I would say their dishes are kinda 1 Malaysia larr, coz i believe everyone will love them.

Portuguese Style Beef Slices -- RM16.80
I think they sort of braised the beef, kinda like rendang but non spicy one. The beef slices are soft but with some chewy-ness. The gravy is awesome larr seriously, lots of local spices. Dip the taufu-pok in it, it taste awesome! Really love this one!

Beancurd with Petola -- RM15.90
aka Sheng Gua Taufu
Nothing special but still very delicious. The gravy is super nice, another rice thief!

Cendol with Redbeans -- RM5.90
they specially mention redbeans coz they are super generous with them!! The redbean paste taste so good and I can tell they made the paste themselves. It's sweet but non the artificial type. The texture is quite nice as you can bite into some of the redbean's crunchy skin. Anyways, the cendol taste awesome larr....super fragrant with santan. Nice cooling dessert.

Ice Kacang ABC -- RM5.90
another awesome dessert
I think they really did a good job with choosing the ingredients
look at the corn mannnn.....they are so juicy and crunchy!
The rose syrup really brings the flavor out while the gula melaka gives a rich flavor.
And there's other toppings as well, love the crunchy texture. Thumbs up!

There's two more dishes that I want to recommend tho I did not take photos :
1. Smoked Chicken served with Thousand Island Dip -- RM16.80
very simple, it's just so delicious that I forgot to take photos. The chicken has a very natural salty taste and it's super juicy. The thousand island sauce acts as a highlight to the natural taste of the chicken.
2, Lemak Kuning Jenahak Fish -- RM7.80/100gm
It's a super fragrant curry with lots of veggie! The curry is a rice thief man, coz it's full of veggies' flavor and also the fish's sweetness. For the fish, it's sweet and has a soft texture, the curry adds some spice to the taste.

sorry, my bad camera. The place has a very homey feel as well, with lots of wooden furnitures, statues and kind of Balinese elements.
anyways, it's really one malaysia larr, the place is always crowded!!

The super nice smoked chicken that I recommended!!
Smoked Chicken served with Thousand Island Dip -- RM16.80

Steamed Beancurd with Minced Chicken and Gravy -- RM13.90
this is a "rice-thief" love the super soft tofu.
