K la, After going to these coffee shops in JB, I've decided to compile them and recommend the best offering from each cafe. Enjoy! Have a cuppa.

Click on the link to see the individual reviews

What to try: Affogato Luxurious

This is definitely one of the trendiest coffee shops in JB. Indulge yourselves in this industrial looking secret hideout. Great place for the weekend gathering with your closest friends. Of course, the topnotch quality of their coffee and food definitely will enhance your experience further.

Location: 30, Jalan Mutiara Emas 5/3, Taman Mount Austin

Affogato Luxurious -- RM12.00
Your usual affogato with a luxurious twist: warm alcohol
Cold on your tongue, but heat down your spine.

What to try: Rose Latte

The coffee pro people's hangout spot, indulge in high quality coffee with elegant and contemporary ambience. Great place to just quietly sip your coffee and talk about good things in life with your friends.

Location: 73, Jalan Molek 3/10, Taman Molek, 81100 Johor Bahru

Rose Latte -- RM13.00
Never knew rose extract TASTE this good besides from the irresistible floral scent. Bittersweet done awesome.

What to try: Macadamia Latte

Love their super smooth texture and slightly moist foam. Open and comfy environment, great for lunch dates and also gatherings with your favorite people to chat and enjoy the food.

Location: 51-01 Jalan Molek 2/1, Taman Molek, 81100 JB

Macadamia Latte -- RM11.90

What to try: Magic

Magic is their specialty here, sorry I don't have a nice photo of it. But it's definitely for someone who prefers something in between a regular latte and piccolo latte. Less milkier than latte, with heavier espresso content. Something you would occasionally crave for after all your usual lattes and mochas. My flat white taste awesome though, super smooth and the foam was kinda like candy for some reason haha. Interior looks simple, chic and elegant, great place to have a coffee with your colleagues after a whole day of hectic work.

Location: 19, Jalan Molek 1/5C, Taman Molek 81100, Johor Bahru.

Flat White -- RM9.00

What to try: Flat white with homemade cookie and Lemon Cheesecake

Love the cheesecake coz it's not too heavy but the cheese is really smooth, perfect to go with your coffee. Coffee taste great, not so much of the bitter type, suits most people from different age groups.
Very warm and friendly cafe, with super comfy chairs and tea-lounge like interior. Great for a weekend gathering with your best friends to gossip, maybe complaint about work and of course laugh heheh...

Location: 147, Jalan Mutiara Emas 10/19 Taman Mount Austin
Flat White -- RM8.50

Lemon Cheesecake -- RM9.90

What to try: Mocha

The mocha doesn't taste like your usual mocha with chocolate syrup, it has a strong taste of cocoa but without the sugar(unlike chocolate). So yea, very aromatic and less sweet. The place, Love it. Simplicity and serenity. Quiet and spacious with urban furnishing. The wood and steel concept. I would say it's suitable for people who like to sip their coffee on their own, or come with a few friends for a quiet afternoon tea.

Location: 29, Jalan Molek 1/12, Taman Molek, 81100 Johor Bahru

Mocha -- RM11.00

What to try: Latte and Baked Rice

This cafe takes pride of their amazing latte art, where pictures of them are showcased on the walls of the restaurant. Latte taste great, love the balance of milk and espresso. Slightly more bitter but has a sweet aftertaste. Try their baked rice!!! It's not exactly special but still it's good. Looks cheesy but believe me it goes well with the rice and very appetizing. The place? Beautiful, feels like cozy home inside with wooden tables and chairs. On the outside, it's warm and looks like a garden tea lounge for Tai-Tai day.

Location: 7A Showhouse, Jalan Persiaran Jaya Putra 1 Bandar Jaya Putra 81100 Johor Bahru

Bacon and Mushroom Baked Rice -- RM17.90

Latte -- RM8.90

snap loads of photos when you're there!

After my descriptions of the cafe, you'll realize that each cafe are actually unique when it comes to both the food, beverage, environment and therefore suits different occasions. So I decided to make.....a 7 Day JB Cafe Hop Calendar. Who says you can't have coffee everyday??

Extra here....
8. C'estino (closed)
This is a very chic cafe with a wide range of food to choose from. From my previous visit, the coffee and food actually taste good, but I wasn't able to try out their impressive variety of western desserts. There's macarons of different flavors, cakes like tiramisu and brownies, creme brulee, and more!! The place, very spacious and I would say it's great for a sophisticated lunch or afternoon tea. Hope to visit there again....so I recommend this place to you guys as well.

9. Be Coffee (former Just Want Coffee @ Taman Molek)
I know the current Be Coffee might not be serving the exact thing as the previous JWC, but still some photos sharing here from our experience at JWC Molek. The JWC Tiramisu is the bomb, try them at other JWC outlets like The Factory 30 and The Gardens@JP Perdana.

Location: 2, Jalan Molek 1/5C Taman Molek 91100
Caramel Macchiato -- RM9.50

If you happen to go Be Coffee, you'll love the classy and luxurious interior especially this full length display shelf of coffee brewing equipment.

20. Diagon Alley
All the way from Taiwan, it's not just for coffee fix but getting a boost of energy from all the fun and wacky beverages over here. Plus, the name is already doing its magic.

Location: 49-GF, Jalan Austin Heights 8/1, Taman Austin Heights, Johor Bahru

21. Kolla Coffee
Hands down one of the best brunch I've ever had. Initially the menu didn't seem to look impressive because the combination of ingredients isn't exactly familiar. But hey, the offering here is special, delicious and very satisfying. What's more, even the mocktails gives a refreshing boost. The garlic bread toast was so good, so does the delicious croquet and otak-otak sandwich.

Location: Lot 2110&2111, Jalan Permas Utara, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, 81750 Masai Johor

22. Union Fashion Bar
Another unexpectedly delicious restaurant. Usually restaurants that has too many things on their menu tend to taste not as well. But everything I had from this restaurant was delicious. So good that I thought I was just lucky. Personal favorite is the Salmon Penne in Pink Creme Sauce, which is pretty much the goodness of carbonara and tomato combined.

Location: No 24, Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/4, Taman Sutera Utama, Skudai, Johor

Sukiya @ Taipan USJ

TGIF with my chui shui gang again!!!
One of the best fridays ever!!!!
Why, coz I had a really really stressful week
well won't complaint much about my work here...maybe another post
but ya, it was just stress, I felt like a pressure tank that week,
Anyways, got to meet up with my high school buddies and turns out they were as stress as I was
Everyone needed a relief!

How to pamper ourselves?? Good food la!
Our first stop, went to the not-so-famous but very yummy

Sukiya @ USJ Taipan

While we were on the way to subang, thinking of how to answer The Hardest Question in The World -- "Eat What?", suddenly Gavin thought of this place and the next thing we know, it seems like nothing can stop him from going there haha...Gavin says their Gyudon rocks...and yes he's right!

Both yummy and affordable, Sukiya is a rather unique fast food restaurant that sells Gyudon aka Japanese Beef Rice. Well no worries for those who don't take beef, there's other alternatives on the menu as well. To my surprise the place was quite empty on a Friday night. For a fast food restaurant the ambience is actually pretty good, but still you can't get rid of the super strong greasy smell that all fast food chain has.

Japanese Fast Food lerr!!
Like like...

Cheese Gyudon (Large) -- RM12.90
Gavin's choice, nothing can go wrong with this steak and cheese combination! On top of that there's a mild yet aromatic flavor of teriyaki sauce I guess, and extra sweetness from caramelised onions.
By the way, like any other fast food restaurant, you can choose the size for your meal.
There's Small Medium and Large bowl, with RM2.00 difference in price from each size.

Kimchi Gyudon (Small) -- RM8.90
Me and Daph's
Love it!!! Spicy and sour cabbage with the sweet and chewy beef strips. I don't know what word to use to describe the beef, erm.....the flavor, I know not everyone likes it, but I really like the only-beef-has-it taste. It's so strong that the smell can rush up to your nostrils after you placed it on your tongue. Sounds exaggerating but I'm not. Rice is the soft type but with a little crunch, and it absorbs all the flavors of the sauce. Nice!

Seafood Tofu Set Add On -- RM5.00
Miso Soup (ala carte) -- RM2.50
The Add On includes this seafood tofu and also one drink/miso soup.
I didn't feel like having soft drinks so I asked for miso soup.
Tofu was really normal, well I guess for 5 bucks it's still worth it, but I suggest there's no need to have this add on, maybe try others.

Anyways I would say the Extra Point for this restaurant being casual dining with delicious food at affordable prices. Try this place if you want a special fast food experience.

Suddenly realize that Me and Daph are wearing similar styles haha
saw this pretty wall with interesting photos, decided to take a photo heheh
Thanks Gavin for being the photographer though you very beh tahan and can't wait to dig in.
